Common Question: I Disobeyed Traffic Device in New York City, but I live out of the State. What Legal Options are Available to me?
There is no plea bargaining of New York City traffic tickets. You will have to either plead guilty or go to trial. If you were local, I would suggest that you go to trial, because you have nothing to lose, and sometimes you get lucky!

By Kenneth S. Feraru, Esq. It should come as no surprise to any licensed driver in the State of New York that New York Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 319 requires those owning or operating a motor vehicle to have a minimum amount of liability insurance for personal injury, death or property damage caused by the negligence of the owner or operator of that motor vehicle. I'm sure we can all agree that this is a good law, as it provides for compensation to those who have sustained damages, and affords protection to the owner and operator of the vehicle
Most of those of us who drive a motor vehicle on a regular basis have been, at some point in our lives, in the unfortunate position of being the recipient of a traffic ticket.
